October 1, 2010 – Braselton, Georgia – Patrick Long clocked the eighth fastest time in GT today in the No. 45 Flying Lizard Porsche 911 GT3 RSR in qualifying for Petit Le Mans. In the No. 44 Porsche, Seth Neiman was fourteenth. Jaime Melo of the No. 61 Risi Competizione Ferrari is on the GT pole.

Long commented on qualifying, “On one lap of speed, it wasn’t our day. Of course, I’m disappointed because we showed so much promise in the final practice session this morning. I’m optimistic for tomorrow: we’ve improved the car all through the week and this morning we were very happy with the Porsche setup. The race plan is to stick to the strategy that we’ve had all year: be flawless in the pits, mistake-free on track and run hard and smart.”

Marc Lieb (Germany), a Porsche factory driver, joins Bergmeister and Long as the third driver for the No. 45. In the No. 44 Flying Lizard Porsche, Marco Holzer (Germany), a Porsche junior factory driver, joins Seth Neiman and Darren Law.

Bergmeister and Long lead the drivers’ championship by 22 points; there are 30 points possible for first place at Petit, which will run a maximum of 1000 miles or 10 hours, whichever comes first. They must finish tenth or better in class and complete 70 percent of the laps of the class winner to clinch the title. Flying Lizard also leads the team championship and Porsche leads in the manufacturers’ title, each by one point: both of those championships will also be decided tomorrow.
