When Jon Field gets in a race car-it’s all business

Already speculation is running rampant about not if Intersport Racing’s Lola-AER prototype will lead the Larry H. Miller Dealerships Utah Grand Prix, but for how many laps. Field, who will drive the Intersport LMP with son Clint in the fourth round of the American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patrón, did so with a storming opening run during the 2008 race at Miller Motorsports Park.

Jon Field took race to Audi in 2008 Utah GP

He went from eighth at the start to third by the end of massive 3,500-foot frontstretch at MMP. He swapped the race lead with Marco Werner’s factory Audi R10 TDI and led four laps before falling back to a second-place class finish.

The Intersport car has been a missile early in the 2010 season, having led overall at both Long Beach (Jon Field for 23 laps) and Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca (Clint Field for the first 38 laps). Intersport didn’t start at Sebring following Jon Field’s horrific crash in testing early in raceweek.

Intersport and the rest of the American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patrón return to action at the Larry H. Miller Dealerships Utah Grand Prix. The two-hour, 45-minute race is set for 2:35 p.m. MT on Sunday, July 11 from Miller Motorsports Park in Tooele, Utah. SPEED will air the race live at 4:30 p.m. ET. Live radio coverage will be available on American Le Mans Radio presented by Porsche – a production of Radio Show Limited – as well as Sirius Channel 127 and XM Channel 242. Visit the Series’ schedule page for ticket and accommodation information. Live Timing and Scoring, track schedule, entry list and much, much more will be available on Racehub at americanlemans.com.
