Castrol Canadian Touring Cars Return to Indy

Canada’s largest auto racing series, the Castrol Canadian Touring Car Championship presented by Toyo Tires is proud to return for Round 4 to the streets of Toronto for the Honda Indy Toronto with the largest field entered in two distinct classes, Touring and Super Touring.

Canada’s Best Drivers Racing Today’s Hottest Touring Cars will be on hand for all three days of this exciting race weekend in downtown Toronto with an open practice and qualifying session following up with two 30 minutes races that are sure to give the fans a glimpse of intense professional Canadian road racing.

Super Touring Class points leader Nick Wittmer (710 pts) piloting his potent Lombardi Honda sponsored Civic SI Sedan will attempt to defend his lead against a large field of competitors that grew even bigger during the off-season. Watch for second place standing, Donington Motorsports driver Dave Ciekiewicz (650 pts) and third place driver Mathieu Audette (619 pts) try to make their way up the point’s ladder.

In the extremely competitive Touring Class, current points leader, Thornhill native Anthony Rapone (703 pts) will be pulling out all the stops in his Honda Civic Si to keep his Durabond/Compass 360 Racing teammate Karl Thomson (637 pts) and rivals Octane Motorsports MINI driver Michel Sallenbach (616 pts) and Pfaff VW sponsored driver P.J. Groenke (601 pts) at bay.

This weekend starts early Friday morning at 7:45am sharp for the championship when the drivers hit Toronto’s famed street course for their 30-minute practice. Both classes will be qualifying later in the day from 5:30pm to 6:00pm and the green flag for first race of the weekend drops Saturday afternoon at 5:40pm. The feature race will begin at 9:20am Sunday for 30 minutes where the two classes will be putting on the “show” of the weekend.

The Castrol Canadian Touring Car Championship Presented By Toyo Tires is Canada’s Premiere Touring Car Series and features Canada’s Best Drivers Racing Today’s Hottest Touring Cars. The Championship is showcased at seven event weekends in Quebec and Ontario will marquee events at Grand Prix de Trois-Rivieres and Honda Indy Toronto.
