Doctors stop trying to wake Schumacher – report

Doctors have stopped trying to wake Michael Schumacher from his long coma, according to the German newsmagazine Focus.

Former Ferrari teammate Felipe Massa had raised hopes just days ago, when he said that during a recent visit to Schumacher’s Grenoble hospital bedside, the seven time world champion’s mouth moved.

But in the latest edition of the Focus newsmagazine, it is claimed that Schumacher’s progress has now stalled as doctors pause the awakening process.

The report did not say what its sources were.

The latest official statement provided by Schumacher’s management does not include an update about his health, insisting: “We all know Michael is a fighter and will not give up.”

Meanwhile, the Spanish news agency EFE reports that a forthcoming case before the Seville courts involves Schumacher.

Reportedly, on a private visit to Spain last mid November, one month before his skiing accident, Schumacher struck a motorcyclist whilst at the wheel of a rented Audi A4.

The report said Schumacher is accused of causing the crash by not giving way, resulting in injuries to the motorcyclist including a broken wrist that required surgery.
