FAZZT Race Team Pleased With The Return Of The IndyCar Race In Edmonton

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (January 11, 2011)— The FAZZT Race Team is pleased with the announcement that an agreement was reached in order to return the Edmonton Indy race to the IZOD IndyCar Series 2011 season schedule. Quotes from the team are presented below for the use by the media. More information on the announcement can be found at www.indycar.com/media

COO & General Manager Rob Edwards:

“With the Canadian flavour to the FAZZT Race Team including our Canadian driver Alex Tagliani, it’s really important for us as a team to have at least two IZOD IndyCar races in Canada, and just as importantly have representation in both eastern and western parts of the country. Edmonton is a great city to visit and we have received a great welcome for everyone every year we’re raced there. We have some particularly loyal and enthusiastic sponsors in Edmonton, so we are very excited that we will indeed be returning there to support them as they support us throughout the rest of the season.”

Driver of FAZZT 77 entry & Canadian Alex Tagliani:

“It’s great to have the Edmonton Indy back on the IZOD INDYCAR series schedule because throughout the last couple of years we made a lot of friends and very loyal supporters. I’m Canadian and I want to race in front of my Canadian fans and sponsors. With all I think for us with all the efforts and work that we’re doing to bring lots of visibility for the series in Canada very important to keep as many races as possible. The local Edmonton business community pushed really hard to keep that race and showed how important it was for the economic impact for their businesses and city. One of our own Edmonton based sponsors, CanTorque was part of that group and they are very relieved as well. They like the global visibility they get with our team and the series but felt it was very important to them to keep the race as well. I think the fans are just as happy to see our series back in their city especially with all the good news that has been coming out about the future of the series with additional manufacturers and new Indy cars. Edmonton will be very happy to have kept this race with such a bright future for everyone.”

President Colin Livingston:

“I am absolutely thrilled that the Edmonton Indy has been saved! What a great example of the strength and determination of the Business Community in Edmonton to step up and cover the reported shortfall! With the addition of Octane as the promoter I am certain that this IndyCar race will have the opportunity to show the potential that we’ve all known was there. Our association with Canadian driver Alex Tagliani is now in its third season and we have been partnered with FAZZT since Day One. Our association would have continued with or without the race here in Edmonton because of the value it brings us in North America, but having the event in our backyard gives us the ability to expose our customers, suppliers and employees to one of the greatest weekends of the year!

There has been a direct correlation between our involvement with the IndyCar race and race team and the increases we’ve seen in our sales; the more involved we get, the more sales we make! It may be frozen and cold outside but we’re already well into our plans for the event and the entire 2011 IZOD IndyCar season!
