{"id":10174,"date":"2010-12-18T00:52:07","date_gmt":"2010-12-18T05:52:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/?p=10174"},"modified":"2010-12-17T19:54:20","modified_gmt":"2010-12-18T00:54:20","slug":"austin-gives-fia-plans-for-2012-us-gp-circuit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/rif\/formula-1\/austin-gives-fia-plans-for-2012-us-gp-circuit\/","title":{"rendered":"Austin gives FIA plans for 2012 US GP circuit"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Organisers of the 2012 United States grand prix have submitted plans for the bespoke circuit outside of Austin with F1&#8217;s governing FIA.<\/p>\n<p>The lodging is earlier than expected, with the body&#8217;s Circuit Commission not scheduled to meet until February.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Our early submission is a true indicator of our ability to meet our slated opening in 2012,&#8221; said promoter Tavo Hellmund.<\/p>\n<p>FIA senate president Nick Craw met with Hermann Tilke official Peter Wahl and Hellmund in October, and according to the Austin American Statesman newspaper said: &#8220;I have a very high degree of confidence that they&#8217;ll bless it (the plan).&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Added Hellmund: &#8220;Tilke has done this a million times so they know what is needed.\u00a0 It&#8217;s all the civil engineering.\u00a0 It&#8217;s a big book, a massive document.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s a blueprint for what the track is going to look like with all the cross-grading and everything,&#8221; he explained.<\/p>\n<p>The submission of the plans sets in motion the process for the circuit&#8217;s mandatory homologation.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We look forward to approval and positive feedback from the FIA Circuit Commission, which will meet in February to review our submission,&#8221; said Hellmund.<\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"color: #888888;\">\u00a0\u00a9 RIF | GMM<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Organisers of the 2012 United States grand prix have submitted plans for the bespoke circuit outside of Austin with F1&#8217;s governing FIA.
