{"id":10320,"date":"2011-01-05T06:31:20","date_gmt":"2011-01-05T11:31:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/?p=10320"},"modified":"2011-01-05T06:31:20","modified_gmt":"2011-01-05T11:31:20","slug":"dyer-axed-as-mclaren-men-step-forward-at-ferrari","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/rif\/formula-1\/dyer-axed-as-mclaren-men-step-forward-at-ferrari\/","title":{"rendered":"Dyer axed as McLaren men step forward at Ferrari"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As expected, Chris Dyer has lost his job in the wake of the bungled race strategy that cost Ferrari the drivers&#8217; title in Abu Dhabi last year.<\/p>\n<p>Italian reports were predicting within hours of the outcome of the season finale in November that the Australian&#8217;s head &#8220;will roll&#8221; for calling in Fernando Alonso for an early pitstop that left him stranded behind Vitaly Petrov.<\/p>\n<p>Dyer remained in his role as Ferrari&#8217;s head of race track engineering until this week, when &#8211; also as expected &#8211; the new deputy technical director Pat Fry took over.<\/p>\n<p>Dyer&#8217;s &#8220;role within the company will be redefined in the next few days&#8221;, Ferrari announced.<\/p>\n<p>Also stepping forward with a prominent new role at Ferrari is Neil Martin, who until recently was chief strategist at Red Bull.<\/p>\n<p>Fry and Martin both worked alongside Spaniard Alonso at McLaren in 2007.<\/p>\n<p>Ferrari said Briton Martin, 38, will head the team&#8217;s new Operations Research department, and like Fry will &#8220;report directly to technical director Aldo Costa&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #888888;\"><em>\u00a9 RIF | GMM<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>As expected, Chris Dyer has lost his job in the wake of the bungled race strategy that cost Ferrari the drivers&#8217; title in Abu Dhabi last year.
