{"id":11207,"date":"2011-02-23T06:44:19","date_gmt":"2011-02-23T11:44:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/?p=11207"},"modified":"2011-02-23T06:44:19","modified_gmt":"2011-02-23T11:44:19","slug":"bahrain-axe-could-help-red-bull-horner","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/rif\/formula-1\/bahrain-axe-could-help-red-bull-horner\/","title":{"rendered":"Bahrain axe could help Red Bull &#8211; Horner"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The cancellation of the Bahrain grand prix could actually benefit Red Bull.<\/p>\n<p>That is the claim of the reigning champion team&#8217;s boss Christian Horner, after pundits said the extra two weeks until Melbourne could work in struggling McLaren and Mercedes&#8217; favour.<\/p>\n<p>But Horner told Bild newspaper: &#8220;With its long straights, Bahrain would not have been our showcase race.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Red Bull has long insisted that its cars are not as fast in a straight line as its rivals due to the underpowered Renault engine.<\/p>\n<p>And as for the claim that the Bahrain cancellation gives struggling teams more time to catch up, Horner insisted: &#8220;Ten more days is not going to make much of a difference.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Mercedes&#8217; Norbert Haug, however, does not agree.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;At this point before the start of a season, all the teams are doing things literally at the very last minute,&#8221; he told Auto Motor und Sport.<\/p>\n<p>He said the extra time until the new season opener in Australia therefore gives every competitor &#8220;just a little bit more air&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #888888;\"><em>\u00a9 RIF | GMM<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The cancellation of the Bahrain grand prix could actually benefit Red Bull.
