{"id":11284,"date":"2011-03-01T06:47:15","date_gmt":"2011-03-01T11:47:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/?p=11284"},"modified":"2011-03-01T06:47:15","modified_gmt":"2011-03-01T11:47:15","slug":"pirelli-switch-not-good-for-big-teams-alonso","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/rif\/formula-1\/pirelli-switch-not-good-for-big-teams-alonso\/","title":{"rendered":"Pirelli switch &#8216;not good for big teams&#8217; &#8211; Alonso"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Fernando Alonso believes F1&#8217;s switch to Pirelli tyres is &#8220;not good for the big teams&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>There have been widespread complaints about the severe degradation of the 2011-specification products supplied by the sport&#8217;s new official supplier.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;There will be lots of pitstops,&#8221; said the Ferrari driver at a sponsor event in Madrid, according to the Spanish press.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;There will be three or four (pitstops per race) and that&#8217;s not good for the big teams,&#8221; Alonso added.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It mixes the situation, just as in football if there was a penalty each half hour, Barcelona and Real Madrid would not be happy.\u00a0 If it&#8217;s better for anybody, it&#8217;s the small teams,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>The Spaniard would not, however, be drawn on the likely pecking order for the first race of the season.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;In other years you could have a slight idea,&#8221; he explained.\u00a0 &#8220;But with so many elements and variables to take into account now &#8211; moving wings, tyres and KERS &#8211; it is virtually impossible to know.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;What we do know is that our car is reliable and that we are happy with it, but not whether it is faster or slower than the others.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Asked which teams have made the most progress since 2010, Alonso answered: &#8220;Renault and Toro Rosso.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #888888;\"><em>\u00a9 RIF | GMM<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Fernando Alonso believes F1&#8217;s switch to Pirelli tyres is &#8220;not good for the big teams&#8221;.
