{"id":11342,"date":"2011-03-04T07:01:09","date_gmt":"2011-03-04T12:01:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/?p=11342"},"modified":"2011-03-04T07:00:39","modified_gmt":"2011-03-04T12:00:39","slug":"verstappen-doubts-alonso-sabotage-claims-true","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/rif\/formula-1\/verstappen-doubts-alonso-sabotage-claims-true\/","title":{"rendered":"Verstappen doubts Alonso sabotage claims true"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Jos Verstappen on Thursday said he doubts the latest accusations about Fernando Alonso are true.<\/p>\n<p>A new biography about Bernie Ecclestone alleges that, whilst a McLaren driver in 2007, Spaniard Alonso attempted to blackmail boss Ron Dennis into sabotaging the sister car driven by Lewis Hamilton.<\/p>\n<p>Now driving for Ferrari, Alonso responded in Spain earlier this week that he tends to &#8220;ignore what is said from other countries&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;You have to wonder if the accusations are true,&#8221; wrote former grand prix driver Verstappen in his latest column for Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I cannot imagine that a driver would go that far.\u00a0 I don&#8217;t want to say too much about it except that I have my doubts,&#8221; he added.<\/p>\n<p>The Dutchman also described as &#8220;ridiculous&#8221; Bernie Ecclestone&#8217;s proposal to spice up grands prix with artificial rain.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to BBC radio on Thursday, Mark Webber agreed.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Think of guys like Ayrton Senna and Jackie Stewart and Jimmy Clark and they would be &#8230; well, Jackie is still here but the other two would be turning in their graves at the thought,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #888888;\"><em>\u00a9 RIF | GMM<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Jos Verstappen on Thursday said he doubts the latest accusations about Fernando Alonso are true.
