{"id":11827,"date":"2011-04-07T06:36:54","date_gmt":"2011-04-07T10:36:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/?p=11827"},"modified":"2011-04-07T06:36:54","modified_gmt":"2011-04-07T10:36:54","slug":"abu-dhabi-eyes-changes-to-improve-f1-overtaking","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/rif\/formula-1\/abu-dhabi-eyes-changes-to-improve-f1-overtaking\/","title":{"rendered":"Abu Dhabi eyes changes to improve F1 overtaking"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Organisers of the Abu Dhabi grand prix are contemplating making changes to the Yas Marina circuit.<\/p>\n<p>The layout of the otherwise spectacular facility received criticism after last year&#8217;s mainly processional season finale.<\/p>\n<p>FIA president Jean Todt told Auto Motor und Sport this week that &#8220;Races like Abu Dhabi in 2010, where you cannot overtake, are not acceptable&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>But Richard Cregan, Yas Marina Circuit chief executive, insists Abu Dhabi should not be singled out.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;You can see it around the world that you have tracks equally as good as Yas Marina Circuit, many of them with a longer heritage and still F1 becomes a procession,&#8221; he told The National.<\/p>\n<p>Cregan admitted, however, that circuit officials are discussing with the FIA as well as drivers ways to improve the track.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are looking at various track modifications that we have to do for MotoGP and also what impact they would have on formula one,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We want to be active in terms of increasing the spectacle.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #888888;\"><em>\u00a9 RIF | GMM<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Organisers of the Abu Dhabi grand prix are contemplating making changes to the Yas Marina circuit.
