{"id":12280,"date":"2011-05-13T07:05:04","date_gmt":"2011-05-13T11:05:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/?p=12280"},"modified":"2011-05-13T07:05:04","modified_gmt":"2011-05-13T11:05:04","slug":"todt-scraps-plans-for-f1-commissioner","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/rif\/formula-1\/todt-scraps-plans-for-f1-commissioner\/","title":{"rendered":"Todt scraps plans for F1 commissioner"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Jean Todt has scrapped his earlier plans to appoint a commissioner in charge of formula one.<\/p>\n<p>Upon being elected as new FIA president, the former Ferrari boss has as promised appointed commissioners for many of the federation&#8217;s series including world rallying, touring cars and GT.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Firstly, I still respect the principle of what I said I would do,&#8221; he is quoted as saying by the French-language autohebdo.fr.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The election was a new experience for me.\u00a0 My advisors suggested I create a commission for all the disciplines of the FIA.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Except in F1, where the president of the commission owns the commercial rights &#8211; Bernie Ecclestone &#8211; we have committees in all disciplines.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I think in the case of F1, you would end up with two separate commissions.\u00a0 That&#8217;s why I abandoned the idea,&#8221; explained Todt, who has been at loggerheads with Ecclestone over several political matters of late.<\/p>\n<p>The 65-year-old also said it is too early to commit to standing for another term as FIA president.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;ve been here for 18 months.\u00a0 It has gone quickly but I still have 30 months as president to go.\u00a0 I can still accomplish many things before I take a decision,&#8221; insisted Todt.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #888888;\"><em>\u00a9 RIF | GMM<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Jean Todt has scrapped his earlier plans to appoint a commissioner in charge of formula one.
