{"id":12834,"date":"2011-06-18T07:49:12","date_gmt":"2011-06-18T11:49:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/?p=12834"},"modified":"2011-06-18T07:49:12","modified_gmt":"2011-06-18T11:49:12","slug":"marko-questions-timing-of-blown-exhaust-clampdown","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/rif\/formula-1\/marko-questions-timing-of-blown-exhaust-clampdown\/","title":{"rendered":"Marko questions timing of blown exhaust clampdown"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Dr Helmut Marko has questioned the timing of the FIA&#8217;s blown exhaust clampdown.<\/p>\n<p>Charlie Whiting told the teams in London on Thursday that restrictions on the sophisticated off-throttle systems will apply as of Silverstone in July, ahead of a total ban in 2012.<\/p>\n<p>Some commentators have seen the mid-season ban as an attempt to curb the dominance of Sebastian Vettel, whose Red Bull team pioneered the current technology.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Inventions such as the double diffuser and the F-duct were both banned at the end of the year,&#8221; Marko, Red Bull&#8217;s motor racing consultant, told German Bild-Zeitung newspaper.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Now we see a ban in the middle of the season.\u00a0 That&#8217;s pretty strange.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;What we hope now is that it doesn&#8217;t hit us any harder than it does Renault, Mercedes and McLaren, while Ferrari is most certainly looking to gain an advantage,&#8221; claimed Marko.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #888888;\"><em>\u00a9 RIF | GMM<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dr Helmut Marko has questioned the timing of the FIA&#8217;s blown exhaust clampdown.
