{"id":14299,"date":"2011-11-16T19:34:54","date_gmt":"2011-11-17T00:34:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/?p=14299"},"modified":"2011-11-16T19:34:54","modified_gmt":"2011-11-17T00:34:54","slug":"mosport-new-tunnel-between-corners-9-and-10","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/rif\/motorsports\/mosport-new-tunnel-between-corners-9-and-10\/","title":{"rendered":"Mosport new tunnel between Corners 9 and 10"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Mosport International Raceway will have a new look when it opens for business in 2012.\u00a0 The first arches were put in place on November 15 as the construction of the new tunnel between Corners 9 and 10 nears completion.\u00a0 The tunnel will accommodate two-way traffic for tractor trailers as well as pedestrians.<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 522px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"ngg-singlepic ngg-center   \" style=\"border: 1px solid black;\" title=\"Mosport International-'First Arches'\" src=\"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/rif\/gallery\/posts-other\/Mosport-new-tunnel.jpg\" alt=\"Mosport-new-tunnel\" width=\"512\" height=\"303\" \/><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Mosport International-&#39;First Arches&#39;-Photo Credit John Walker<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Since Canadian Motorsport Ventures (CMV), a group comprised of Orlando Corporation CEO and Chairman Carlo Fidani, Al Boughton, President and Managing Partner of Trailcon Leasing and Canadian road racing legend Ron Fellows, took over ownership of Mosport back in June, their immediate goal was to improve the experience for spectators, participants, race teams and corporate partners.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is just the first step to turning Mosport into a state of the art facility,\u201d said one of Mosport\u2019s owners, Ron Fellows.\u00a0 \u201cWe feel that this necessary change as well as future projects will be well received for all involved as we strive to upgrade the foundation and rich history that Mosport already has.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The new tunnel, which consists of 17 arches each weighing an impressive 37.194 kg each is an impressive 35.052 m (115\u2019) in length, has an external width of 11.582 m (38\u2019) and measures in at 4.3 m (14\u2019) in height.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis new tunnel along with our expanded entrance will allow Mosport to function much more efficiently for our existing events and will prepare us for future major events,\u201d said Myles Brandt, President and General Manager of Mosport International Raceway.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #888888;\"><em>\u00a9 RIF | Mosport Media<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Mosport International Raceway will have a new look when it opens for business in 2012.\u00a0 The first arches were put in place on November 15 as the construction of the new tunnel between Corners 9 and 10 nears completion.\u00a0 The tunnel will accommodate two-way traffic for tractor trailers as well as pedestrians.
