{"id":14607,"date":"2011-12-14T06:57:33","date_gmt":"2011-12-14T11:57:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/?p=14607"},"modified":"2011-12-14T06:57:33","modified_gmt":"2011-12-14T11:57:33","slug":"ecclestone-offers-to-save-nurburgrings-f1-race","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/rif\/formula-1\/ecclestone-offers-to-save-nurburgrings-f1-race\/","title":{"rendered":"Ecclestone offers to save Nurburgring&#8217;s F1 race"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Bernie Ecclestone has put an offer on the table in an effort to save F1&#8217;s biennial Nurburgring race.<\/p>\n<p>Local politics have threatened the future of the event, with the new green-influenced ruling alliance in the Rhineland-Palatinate state baulking at the use of public funds for F1.<\/p>\n<p>Circuit operator Jorg Lindner responded earlier this year by saying the race contract with F1 chief executive Ecclestone needs to be renegotiated.<\/p>\n<p>On Tuesday, Nurburgring spokesman Karl-Heinz Steinkuhler said the state&#8217;s financial involvement has already fallen from about EUR 13.5m to less than 10 million.<\/p>\n<p>At the same time, meetings with Ecclestone have taken place.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The proposal will now be discussed with (interior minister) Roger Lewentz,&#8221; read a report by the German news agency DPA.<\/p>\n<p>The Tageblatt newspaper said the Nurburgring&#8217;s theme park operations including the rollercoaster will be scaled down, with about 60 jobs made redundant to cut costs.<\/p>\n<p>A spokesman said the Nurburgring&#8217;s future will thereafter be &#8220;highly profitable&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #888888;\"><em>\u00a9 RIF | GMM<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Bernie Ecclestone has put an offer on the table in an effort to save F1&#8217;s biennial Nurburgring race.
