{"id":14883,"date":"2012-01-11T07:10:26","date_gmt":"2012-01-11T12:10:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/?p=14883"},"modified":"2012-01-11T07:10:26","modified_gmt":"2012-01-11T12:10:26","slug":"spa-wants-f1-future-clarity-within-weeks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/rif\/formula-1\/spa-wants-f1-future-clarity-within-weeks\/","title":{"rendered":"Spa wants F1 future clarity within &#8216;weeks&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The local Walloon government is seeking clarity about the future of the fabled Belgian grand prix at Spa-Francorchamps within &#8220;four or five weeks&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Jean-Claude Marcourt, the government&#8217;s economics minister, was responding on Tuesday in a parliamentary committee, following media reports that France looks set to return to F1 in 2013.<\/p>\n<p>Those reports suggested France&#8217;s Paul Ricard circuit will share a single alternating annual date with Spa, the fabled Belgian venue.<\/p>\n<p>Marcourt explained that, in a bid to reduce costs, the government had last year begun to look into possibly alternating its grand prix with another European host.<\/p>\n<p>A &#8220;non-binding document&#8221; with France was circulated, with an answer necessary by the end of 2011.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;On January 1 there was nothing,&#8221; Marcourt is quoted by RTL Sport Belgium.\u00a0 &#8220;Now the French seem to be catching up.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;In four or five weeks, we have to clarify everything.\u00a0 I do not want things drawing out so that we get to the end of the contract not knowing what is going to happen.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are awaiting the response from France,&#8221; he added.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #888888;\"><em>\u00a9 RIF | GMM<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The local Walloon government is seeking clarity about the future of the fabled Belgian grand prix at Spa-Francorchamps within &#8220;four or five weeks&#8221;.
