{"id":15107,"date":"2012-02-03T07:01:31","date_gmt":"2012-02-03T12:01:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/?p=15107"},"modified":"2012-02-03T07:01:31","modified_gmt":"2012-02-03T12:01:31","slug":"new-ferrari-force-india-have-ugly-noses","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/rif\/formula-1\/new-ferrari-force-india-have-ugly-noses\/","title":{"rendered":"New Ferrari, Force India have &#8216;ugly&#8217; noses"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>McLaren was left the odd-one-out on Friday, as Ferrari and Force India joined Caterham in launching new cars with &#8216;ugly&#8217; noses.<\/p>\n<p>The odd feature &#8211; a quirk of new regulations &#8211; is the centrepiece of Ferrari&#8217;s new F2012, launched on Friday morning at Maranello, and the Mercedes-powered Force India VJM05, whose covers were pulled off in the chilly Silverstone pitlane.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;(The car) looks very different actually from what we have seen in the past two years,&#8221; said Ferrari&#8217;s Fernando Alonso.<\/p>\n<p>Agreed Felipe Massa: &#8220;Let me tell you that it looks very aggressive.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Telegraph correspondent Tom Cary, however, had another view, insisting the Ferrari, Force India and Caterham have &#8220;nasty nose jobs&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>But McLaren&#8217;s new MP4-27 features a clean aerodynamic line at the front.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s a bit of a hot topic this year,&#8221; Andrew Green, Force India&#8217;s technical director, acknowledged to Sky Sports.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Obviously a lot of people commented on the McLaren a couple of days ago.\u00a0 For us, it&#8217;s not a big deal.\u00a0 It&#8217;s purely aesthetics.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Paddy Lowe, McLaren&#8217;s technical boss, said the team had retained a more conventional look because last year&#8217;s car already had a &#8220;philosophy&#8221; in line with the new rules.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;You can&#8217;t see performance necessarily by eye, it&#8217;s a matter of fine-tuning the balance between all the relevant aspects,&#8221; he insisted.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #888888;\"><em>\u00a9 RIF | GMM<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>McLaren was left the odd-one-out on Friday, as Ferrari and Force India joined Caterham in launching new cars with &#8216;ugly&#8217; noses.
