{"id":15410,"date":"2012-03-07T07:01:37","date_gmt":"2012-03-07T12:01:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/?p=15410"},"modified":"2012-03-07T07:01:37","modified_gmt":"2012-03-07T12:01:37","slug":"marussia-to-race-after-passing-fia-crash-test","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/rif\/formula-1\/marussia-to-race-after-passing-fia-crash-test\/","title":{"rendered":"Marussia to race after passing FIA crash test"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Marussia&#8217;s 2012 car will be on the Melbourne grid next weekend, after the MR01 finally passed a missing FIA crash test.<\/p>\n<p>The former Virgin team&#8217;s Cosworth-powered car sat out the entire official pre-season period due to a new regulation in 2012 requiring single seaters to be fully homologated before they can even be tested.<\/p>\n<p>The MR01 finally made its track debut on Monday and Tuesday, due to a loophole allowing limited running on demonstration Pirelli tyres for filming purposes even when the mandatory crash tests have not been passed.<\/p>\n<p>But finally, late on Tuesday, Marussia announced that the crash tests have now all been passed.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;After a challenging few weeks for the team, we are pleased to have overcome the last hurdle of the final FIA observed crash test, which we passed today,&#8221; said technical consultant Pat Symonds.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Whilst we have a lot of catching up to do, we take heart from the fact that everything is back on a more positive trajectory,&#8221; Renault&#8217;s former engineering director added.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #888888;\"><em>\u00a9 RIF | GMM<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Marussia&#8217;s 2012 car will be on the Melbourne grid next weekend, after the MR01 finally passed a missing FIA crash test.
