{"id":15458,"date":"2012-03-12T07:17:01","date_gmt":"2012-03-12T11:17:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/?p=15458"},"modified":"2012-03-12T07:17:01","modified_gmt":"2012-03-12T11:17:01","slug":"sauber-flattered-as-red-bull-copies-2012-exhaust","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/rif\/formula-1\/sauber-flattered-as-red-bull-copies-2012-exhaust\/","title":{"rendered":"Sauber flattered as Red Bull copies 2012 exhaust"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Peter Sauber has admitted his Swiss team is flattered after Red Bull apparently copied the C31&#8217;s exhaust layout ahead of the 2012 season.<\/p>\n<p>Red Bull ran at the initial Jerez and Barcelona tests &#8211; and then the two opening days of the final Barcelona test &#8211; with its own solution in the wake of the FIA&#8217;s blown exhaust clampdown.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We had a nice surprise on the penultimate day (of winter testing),&#8221; Sauber team boss Peter Sauber wrote in his column for Sonntagsblick newspaper.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Red Bull announced their plans to use a heavily modified car, as it will race in Melbourne.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Compared to their first version it had a completely different rear, which differs significantly from most cars &#8212; but not ours.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The Red Bull and our C31 have a very similar concept, concerning the management of the airflow at the rear.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;For our engineers, it was an extra confirmation that they have chosen the right development direction.\u00a0 They are convinced that this concept has the potential for further development,&#8221; added Sauber.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #888888;\"><em>\u00a9 RIF | GMM<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Peter Sauber has admitted his Swiss team is flattered after Red Bull apparently copied the C31&#8217;s exhaust layout ahead of the 2012 season.
