{"id":15496,"date":"2012-03-16T07:12:42","date_gmt":"2012-03-16T11:12:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/?p=15496"},"modified":"2012-03-16T07:12:42","modified_gmt":"2012-03-16T11:12:42","slug":"fia-says-new-f-ducts-exhausts-all-legal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/rif\/formula-1\/fia-says-new-f-ducts-exhausts-all-legal\/","title":{"rendered":"FIA says new F-ducts, exhausts all legal"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It did not take long for F1&#8217;s first technical controversy of the 2012 race season to erupt.<\/p>\n<p>Asked about Mercedes&#8217; F-duct system that reportedly works in conjunction with the deployment of DRS, Red Bull team boss Christian Horner said: &#8220;Are they allowed?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The FIA&#8217;s Charlie Whiting says yes.\u00a0 &#8220;I cannot see a rule that prohibits it,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;What is not allowed is the movement of the driver to generate an aerodynamic effect,&#8221; he is quoted by Brazil&#8217;s O Estado de S.Paulo.<\/p>\n<p>So at least for now, the other teams will have to react, amid talk the concept is worth several kilometres per hour in a straight line.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;ll have to have a look at it,&#8221; confirmed Horner.<\/p>\n<p>But according to BBC analyst and former F1 designer Gary Anderson, Red Bull and Ferrari &#8211; and maybe others &#8211; have reacted already.<\/p>\n<p>They &#8220;appear to have a different system and I&#8217;m struggling to understand how it complies with the rules&#8221;, he said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;m sure we&#8217;ll be hearing more about this subject&#8221;, Anderson added.<\/p>\n<p>Also legal for now are all the teams&#8217; different interpretations of the new exhaust rules &#8212; even the controversial Red Bull&#8217;s.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;As far as we&#8217;ve seen so far, they all do comply with the rules,&#8221; confirmed Whiting.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #888888;\"><em>\u00a9 RIF | GMM<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It did not take long for F1&#8217;s first technical controversy of the 2012 race season to erupt.
