{"id":15777,"date":"2012-04-10T07:04:12","date_gmt":"2012-04-10T11:04:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/?p=15777"},"modified":"2012-04-10T07:04:12","modified_gmt":"2012-04-10T11:04:12","slug":"lotus-to-keep-f1-name-until-at-least-2017","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/rif\/formula-1\/lotus-to-keep-f1-name-until-at-least-2017\/","title":{"rendered":"Lotus to keep F1 name until at least 2017"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>F1&#8217;s Enstone based team will keep the &#8216;Lotus&#8217; name until at least 2017.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"ngg-singlepic ngg-left alignleft\" style=\"margin: 5px;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/rif\/gallery\/f1-2012-rif-images\/f1-12-logos\/Lotus-F1.jpg\" alt=\"Lotus-F1\" width=\"288\" height=\"115\" \/>It emerged late last week that the sponsorship agreement between the team formerly known as Renault, and the Proton-owned carmaker Group Lotus, has ended.<\/p>\n<p>But the team will at least keep its new chassis name for the foreseeable future, the French sports daily L&#8217;Equipe reveals.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are pleased to keep the name,&#8221; said team owner Gerard Lopez, &#8220;because it&#8217;s a great brand for F1.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Group Lotus confirmed: &#8220;The F1 team uses the strength of the Lotus name to promote themselves, and in return Group Lotus benefits from F1 exposure and the ambassadorship of its drivers.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The carmaker confirmed that the &#8220;financial arrangement&#8221; between Group Lotus and the F1 team has ended.<\/p>\n<p>L&#8217;Equipe said the Genii-owned team is currently in talks with a major North American company about becoming the new title sponsor.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #888888;\"><em>\u00a9 RIF | GMM<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>F1&#8217;s Enstone based team will keep the &#8216;Lotus&#8217; name until at least 2017.
