{"id":16374,"date":"2012-07-16T19:17:38","date_gmt":"2012-07-16T23:17:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/?p=16374"},"modified":"2012-07-16T19:17:38","modified_gmt":"2012-07-16T23:17:38","slug":"no-car-problem-before-de-villota-crash-marussia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/rif\/formula-1\/no-car-problem-before-de-villota-crash-marussia\/","title":{"rendered":"No car problem before de Villota crash &#8211; Marussia"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Marussia has revealed that Maria de Villota&#8217;s testing crash two weeks ago was not caused by a technical problem.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"ngg-singlepic ngg-left alignleft\" style=\"margin: 5px;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/rif\/gallery\/f1-2012-rif-images\/f1-12-logos\/Marussia.jpg\" alt=\"Marussia\" width=\"360\" height=\"144\" \/>As the 32-year-old Spanish test driver remains in a Cambridge (UK) hospital with serious face and head injuries, her employer Marussia said it has completed a &#8220;detailed investigation&#8221; into the cause.<\/p>\n<p>De Villota was at the end of the first installation run of a day of straight-line aerodynamic testing at Duxford airfield when the 2012 car surged forwards and crashed into the loading ramp of a truck.<\/p>\n<p>Marussia team boss John Booth said on Monday the team is &#8220;satisfied that the findings of our internal investigation exclude the car as a factor in the accident&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>The obvious implication of the finding is that the incident was caused by driver error.<\/p>\n<p>But Marussia said in its media statement that, although de Villota was making her team debut, Duxford was actually the fourth time she had driven an F1 car.<\/p>\n<p>A team insider is quoted by Germany&#8217;s Auto Motor und Sport: &#8220;Sometimes it&#8217;s harder to drive a (F1) car slow rather than fast.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #888888;\"><em>\u00a9 RIF | GMM<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Marussia has revealed that Maria de Villota&#8217;s testing crash two weeks ago was not caused by a technical problem.
