{"id":16649,"date":"2012-09-23T19:16:16","date_gmt":"2012-09-23T23:16:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/?p=16649"},"modified":"2012-10-04T09:07:08","modified_gmt":"2012-10-04T13:07:08","slug":"reports-hamilton-to-stay-at-mclaren-schu-at-mercedes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/rif\/formula-1\/reports-hamilton-to-stay-at-mclaren-schu-at-mercedes\/","title":{"rendered":"Reports &#8211; Hamilton to stay at McLaren, Schu at Mercedes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>According to the latest buzz in the Singapore paddock, the &#8216;Lewis Hamilton saga&#8217; could be almost at the finish line.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"ngg-singlepic ngg-left alignleft\" style=\"margin: 5px;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/rif\/gallery\/f1-2012\/championship-f1-2012\/R12Sin-F1\/R12Sin-F1-03.jpg\" alt=\"R12Sin-F1-03\" width=\"384\" height=\"256\" \/>Previously, it was rumoured the McLaren driver was so close to agreeing a switch to Mercedes next year that Michael Schumacher had started looking around for a new team.<\/p>\n<p>Writing in Kleine Zeitung newspaper, correspondent Karin Sturm even revealed she had spotted Schumacher&#8217;s manager Sabine Kehm talking in the paddock with Peter Sauber and Monisha Kaltenborn.<\/p>\n<p>But the German Sunday newspaper Bild am Sonntag reports something quite different.<\/p>\n<p>Apparently the seven time world champion is now close to getting the nod for another season with Mercedes in 2013, because Hamilton is now tipped to stay at McLaren.<\/p>\n<p>The newspaper said the British team has upped its financial offer from around EUR 12m to 15m per season.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;If McLaren extends, Schumi stays at Mercedes,&#8221; the report concluded.<\/p>\n<p>Former McLaren driver and British television commentator Martin Brundle has heard the same.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;(I&#8217;ve) been told Hamilton contract should be sorted in a few days,&#8221; he told his 275,000 Twitter followers.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;If so, (the) music stops and there will be a huge rush to sit down.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Asked by the Spanish newspaper El Pais if he will be able to convince Hamilton to stay, McLaren boss Martin Whitmarsh answered on Saturday: &#8220;I am confident we will find a way.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #888888;\"><em>\u00a9 RIF | GMM<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>According to the latest buzz in the Singapore paddock, the &#8216;Lewis Hamilton saga&#8217; could be almost at the finish line.
