{"id":16726,"date":"2012-10-07T11:21:24","date_gmt":"2012-10-07T15:21:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/?p=16726"},"modified":"2012-10-07T11:21:24","modified_gmt":"2012-10-07T15:21:24","slug":"pirelli-to-decide-on-f1-future-next-june","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/rif\/formula-1\/pirelli-to-decide-on-f1-future-next-june\/","title":{"rendered":"Pirelli to decide on F1 future next June"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Pirelli will decide next June whether or not to stay in formula one.<\/p>\n<p>The Italian marque&#8217;s three-year contract to be the sport&#8217;s sole tyre supplier expires at the end of next season.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"ngg-singlepic ngg-left alignleft\" style=\"margin: 5px;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/rif\/gallery\/f1-2012-rif-images\/f1-12-people\/Paul-Hembery-1.jpg\" alt=\"Paul-Hembery-1\" width=\"384\" height=\"257\" \/>Motor sport boss Paul Hembery has said it is likely Pirelli will seek to stay.<\/p>\n<p>He is quoted by Brazi&#8217;s O Estado de S.Paulo: &#8220;The decision to renew the contract will be taken in June (2013).<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;In principle we will proceed with the project, because we have achieved the goals we set technically and in terms of marketing, and I think for the public too.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;But we do need to understand better the formula one (regulations) of 2014,&#8221; Hembery admitted.<\/p>\n<p>Asked if Pirelli would still be interested in F1 if the FIA opens up the rules to another tyre maker, he answered: &#8220;Why not, as it may be good for formula one.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;But first we would need to know the details of the regulations.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>F1 chief executive Bernie Ecclestone indicated he is happy if Pirelli stays on.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It (the tyres) is a very important variable.\u00a0 And they are doing a good job &#8212; don&#8217;t you think the races are exciting?&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #888888;\"><em>\u00a9 RIF | GMM<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Pirelli will decide next June whether or not to stay in formula one.
