{"id":16941,"date":"2012-10-29T06:38:33","date_gmt":"2012-10-29T10:38:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/?p=16941"},"modified":"2012-10-29T06:38:33","modified_gmt":"2012-10-29T10:38:33","slug":"webber-apologised-after-press-conference-snub","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/rif\/formula-1\/webber-apologised-after-press-conference-snub\/","title":{"rendered":"Webber apologised after press conference snub"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Mark Webber walked out of the official FIA press conference after Sunday&#8217;s Indian grand prix.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"ngg-singlepic ngg-left alignleft\" style=\"margin: 5px 10px;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/rif\/gallery\/f1-2012-rif-images\/f1-12-drivers\/Mark-Webber-3.jpg\" alt=\"Mark-Webber-3\" width=\"384\" height=\"256\" \/>The incident occurred at the tail end of the media formalities at the Buddh circuit, when not a single question from the floor was addressed to the Australian.<\/p>\n<p>So, when Bild newspaper&#8217;s Frank Schneider asked title contenders Fernando Alonso and Sebastian Vettel what they would each like from one another, Vettel turned to Alonso and grinned: &#8220;Ah, no, you have a cap.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I was just about to say his cap, but &#8230; where did you get that from?&#8221; Webber&#8217;s Red Bull teammate joked.<\/p>\n<p>Alonso looked puzzled: &#8220;I can give it (the cap) to you but &#8230; I didn&#8217;t understand the &#8230;&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Webber, &#8220;shaking his head&#8221; according to the SID news agency, had already walked out.<\/p>\n<p>F1&#8217;s media delegate Matteo Bonciani told the Indian news agency IANS that he later apologised.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;He said it is something he should not have done.\u00a0 Maybe he did that as he didn&#8217;t like the questions asked in the room,&#8221; said Bonciani.<\/p>\n<p>Bonciani told SID: &#8220;He apologised and I accepted.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>He confirmed that he could have referred Webber to the stewards for penalty, but explained: &#8220;I didn&#8217;t (do that) because anyone can respond incorrectly in the heat of the moment.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Normally there are no problems.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Red Bull&#8217;s Dr Helmut Marko also defended Webber.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Mark actually had an early fight and was running late,&#8221; he told Bild.\u00a0 &#8220;So because the last question was not for him, he got up (and left).&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Marko also dismissed the &#8216;psychological games&#8217; played by Ferrari&#8217;s Alonso in India this weekend, when the Spaniard said his title fight is not with Vettel but with car designer Adrian Newey.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s just games,&#8221; he insisted.\u00a0 &#8220;But they don&#8217;t make us nervous.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #888888;\"><em>\u00a9 RIF | GMM<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Mark Webber walked out of the official FIA press conference after Sunday&#8217;s Indian grand prix.
