{"id":16955,"date":"2012-11-02T07:10:22","date_gmt":"2012-11-02T11:10:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/?p=16955"},"modified":"2012-11-02T07:10:22","modified_gmt":"2012-11-02T11:10:22","slug":"di-resta-says-hulkenbergs-sauber-switch-a-surprise","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/rif\/formula-1\/di-resta-says-hulkenbergs-sauber-switch-a-surprise\/","title":{"rendered":"Di Resta says Hulkenberg&#8217;s Sauber switch a surprise"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Paul di Resta was surprised when he heard his 2012 teammate Nico Hulkenberg had decided to move to Sauber next year.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"ngg-singlepic ngg-center alignright\" style=\"margin: 5px 10px;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/rif\/gallery\/f1-2012-rif-images\/f1-12-drivers\/Paul-Di-Resta-1.jpg\" alt=\"Paul-Di-Resta-1\" width=\"384\" height=\"256\" \/>Former F1 driver Johnny Herbert has described the German&#8217;s switch as a &#8220;sideways&#8221; step, while Hulkenberg on Thursday denied he is making the move to be closer to Ferrari.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I was surprised that Nico left this team, to be fair, for an immediate competitor,&#8221; Scot di Resta is quoted by the PTI news agency in Abu Dhabi.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I don&#8217;t see it as being a step up, to be perfectly honest.\u00a0 I see it (Sauber) as an equal kind of status,&#8221; he added.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Next year may be different,&#8221; di Resta is quoted as saying by AFP, &#8220;and I don&#8217;t know the full reasons why Nico has gone there.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The 26-year-old, who earlier admitted he was disappointed to miss out on the grandee McLaren or Ferrari seats, said he is &#8220;content&#8221; to stay at Force India for 2013.<\/p>\n<p>He is less content, however, with the current dip in his 2012 campaign.<\/p>\n<p>Di Resta, admitting he is frustrated to have fallen behind Hulkenberg recently, is quoted by the Scotsman as saying the season has &#8220;petered off&#8221; in the last few races.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The way things have turned with Nico is frustrating because I was in front,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #888888;\"><em>\u00a9 RIF | GMM<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Paul di Resta was surprised when he heard his 2012 teammate Nico Hulkenberg had decided to move to Sauber next year.
