{"id":17091,"date":"2012-11-16T07:17:00","date_gmt":"2012-11-16T12:17:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/?p=17091"},"modified":"2012-11-16T07:17:00","modified_gmt":"2012-11-16T12:17:00","slug":"ecclestone-eyes-la-for-f1s-next-us-race","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/rif\/formula-1\/ecclestone-eyes-la-for-f1s-next-us-race\/","title":{"rendered":"Ecclestone eyes LA for F1&#8217;s next US race"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>After Texas and New York, Bernie Ecclestone&#8217;s next American target could be Los Angeles.<\/p>\n<p>The F1 chief executive said this week that, because the US is about the same size as Europe and a huge market for the sport, there should be more American races on the calendar.<\/p>\n<p>Formula one is this weekend finally ending a five-year hiatus by reviving the US grand prix at the brand new Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas.<\/p>\n<p>New Jersey was set to join the schedule next year, but the street race amid the Manhattan skyline could now happen in 2014.<\/p>\n<p>Asked by the Associated Press if LA could be next, Ecclestone said: &#8220;Maybe we can do something (there) in the future.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Tavo Hellmund, the original mastermind of this weekend&#8217;s US grand prix, has admitted he is now pushing to revive the Mexican grand prix at the old Mexico City track.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The Americas are probably big enough to have five or six grands prix,&#8221; he told the Austin American Stateman newspaper.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #888888;\"><em>\u00a0\u00a9 RIF | GMM<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>After Texas and New York, Bernie Ecclestone&#8217;s next American target could be Los Angeles.
