{"id":17147,"date":"2012-11-21T06:57:58","date_gmt":"2012-11-21T11:57:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/?p=17147"},"modified":"2012-11-21T06:57:58","modified_gmt":"2012-11-21T11:57:58","slug":"schumacher-had-no-choice-but-to-retire-stuck","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/rif\/formula-1\/schumacher-had-no-choice-but-to-retire-stuck\/","title":{"rendered":"Schumacher had &#8216;no choice&#8217; but to retire &#8211; Stuck"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hans-Joachim Stuck, a former F1 driver and now president of Germany&#8217;s motor racing federation DMSB, thinks Michael Schumacher is being pushed back into retirement.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"ngg-singlepic ngg-left alignleft\" style=\"margin: 5px 10px;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/rif\/gallery\/f1-2012\/championship-f1-2012\/R12Usa-F1\/R12Usa-F1-08.jpg\" alt=\"R12Usa-F1-08\" width=\"384\" height=\"256\" \/>After a less-than-shining three year comeback with Mercedes, seven time world champion Schumacher will retire again after his 308th and final career grand prix this weekend in Brazil.<\/p>\n<p>The famous German also &#8216;retired&#8217; in Brazil six years ago.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It will probably be less emotional for me this time than in 2006, when we (Ferrari) were still fighting for the championship and everything was much more intense,&#8221; Schumacher said this week.<\/p>\n<p>Schumacher and Mercedes have gone to great lengths to counter the perception that the 43-year-old is being callously ousted to make room for 2013 arrival Lewis Hamilton.<\/p>\n<p>But when asked about Schumacher&#8217;s impending retirement, Stuck is quoted by spox.com: &#8220;He had no choice.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Mercedes signed Lewis Hamilton and Michael couldn&#8217;t find another adequate cockpit.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Stuck said he regrets that F1&#8217;s most successful driver of all time will no longer be on the grid from next year.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I would like to have kept watching him try to match up to the younger drivers,&#8221; said the 61-year-old.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #888888;\"><em>\u00a9 RIF | GMM<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hans-Joachim Stuck, a former F1 driver and now president of Germany&#8217;s motor racing federation DMSB, thinks Michael Schumacher is being pushed back into retirement.
