{"id":17200,"date":"2012-11-25T14:55:33","date_gmt":"2012-11-25T19:55:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/?p=17200"},"modified":"2012-11-25T16:56:29","modified_gmt":"2012-11-25T21:56:29","slug":"sebastian-vettel-wins-third-title-in-epic-2012-finale","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/rif\/formula-1\/sebastian-vettel-wins-third-title-in-epic-2012-finale\/","title":{"rendered":"Sebastian Vettel wins third title in epic 2012 finale"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Sebastian Vettel on Sunday won his third consecutive drivers&#8217; world championship.<\/p>\n<p>After an epic finale to the 2012 calendar in Brazil, Red Bull&#8217;s Vettel finished off the podium but 3 points ahead of Ferrari&#8217;s Fernando Alonso.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"ngg-singlepic ngg-left alignleft\" style=\"margin: 5px 10px;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/rif\/gallery\/f1-2012\/championship-f1-2012\/R12Brz-F1\/R12Brz-F1-11.jpg\" alt=\"R12Brz-F1-01\" width=\"384\" height=\"256\" \/>It was a tumultuous race for the sport&#8217;s new and youngest-ever triple title winner, as he carried to the chequered flag hefty damage from a first lap spin and crash through stop-start rain, and radio and pitstop problems.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;re all absolutely shattered,&#8221; team boss Christian Horner exclaimed to British television Sky.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;ve aged about 15 years!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>With Vettel&#8217;s celebrations occuring elsewhere, it was a strangely sombre affair on the podium, as the glassy-eyed Spaniard Alonso rued his championship defeat, and an emotional Felipe Massa fought back tears as he stood before crying Ferrari mechanics.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;When you do something with your heart and do it 100 per cent, you have to be proud of yourself and your team and we&#8217;ll try again next year,&#8221; said Alonso.<\/p>\n<p>Triple world champion Nelson Piquet said on the podium that Interlagos 2012 was &#8220;the most exciting race I&#8217;ve ever seen in formula one&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #888888;\"><em>\u00a9 RIF | GMM<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sebastian Vettel on Sunday won his third consecutive drivers&#8217; world championship.
