{"id":17216,"date":"2012-11-27T06:50:48","date_gmt":"2012-11-27T11:50:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/?p=17216"},"modified":"2012-11-27T06:50:48","modified_gmt":"2012-11-27T11:50:48","slug":"ralf-schumacher-defends-brother-for-letting-vettel-pass","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/rif\/formula-1\/ralf-schumacher-defends-brother-for-letting-vettel-pass\/","title":{"rendered":"Ralf Schumacher defends brother for letting Vettel pass"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Ralf Schumacher has defended his brother, after Michael let Sebastian Vettel easily overtake during Sunday&#8217;s Brazilian grand prix.<\/p>\n<p>Seven time world champion Schumacher, 43, has received some criticism for letting his friend and countryman Vettel overtake without a fight as the latter raced for his third consecutive drivers&#8217; world championship at Interlagos.<\/p>\n<p>Vettel ultimately won the 2012 contest against Alonso &#8211; who was Schumacher&#8217;s last championship rival of 2006 &#8211; by a mere 3 points.<\/p>\n<p>But former F1 driver Ralf Schumacher said his brother&#8217;s decision to just let Vettel go was &#8220;fair&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Sebastian was faster and he (Michael) didn&#8217;t want to get in the way and increase the risk for him,&#8221; Ralf told German television ZDF.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;That&#8217;s how fair sports people treat each other,&#8221; he added.<\/p>\n<p>Jaime Alguersuari, meanwhile, said the kind of help enjoyed by Vettel in Brazil is just part of F1.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I would have liked to drive a Mercedes in Sao Paulo and let Alonso pass to help with his third world title,&#8221; the former Toro Rosso driver, 2012 Pirelli tester and Spaniard told AS newspaper.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I must remind you that F1 is also about engineering, political interests and money.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Someday, Fernando can benefit from the same circumstances that benefitted Vettel,&#8221; he added.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #888888;\"><em>\u00a9 RIF | GMM<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ralf Schumacher has defended his brother, after Michael let Sebastian Vettel easily overtake during Sunday&#8217;s Brazilian grand prix.
