{"id":17334,"date":"2012-12-10T07:08:27","date_gmt":"2012-12-10T12:08:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/?p=17334"},"modified":"2012-12-10T07:08:27","modified_gmt":"2012-12-10T12:08:27","slug":"parr-confirms-ecclestone-triggered-f1-exit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/rif\/formula-1\/parr-confirms-ecclestone-triggered-f1-exit\/","title":{"rendered":"Parr confirms Ecclestone triggered F1 exit"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Former Williams chairman Adam Parr has confirmed it was Bernie Ecclestone who pushed him to leave formula one.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"ngg-singlepic ngg-left alignleft\" style=\"margin: 5px 10px;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/rif\/gallery\/f1-2012-rif-images\/f1-12-people\/Adam-Parr-1.jpg\" alt=\"Adam-Parr-1\" width=\"384\" height=\"256\" \/>Earlier this year, Briton Parr &#8211; Williams&#8217; de-facto team principal &#8211; suddenly quit, despite his apparently rising stature within the Oxfordshire based team and the F1 paddock.<\/p>\n<p>His shock departure was met with cynicism, as it coincided with the end to an impasse with F1&#8217;s chief executive over Williams&#8217; stalled Concorde Agreement negotiations.<\/p>\n<p>The Telegraph hinted at the time that Parr &#8220;was the victim of a power play&#8221;, and the latest rumour is that he could be set to commence legal action against Ecclestone, F1&#8217;s chief executive.<\/p>\n<p>At the time, Williams said Parr resigned simply to spend more time with his family.<\/p>\n<p>He has now admitted in his new book &#8216;The Art of War &#8211; Five Years in Formula One&#8217;: &#8220;I had resigned that week, rightly or wrongly believing that Ecclestone had told my board that no Concorde offer would be forthcoming while I was running Williams.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Under the circumstances, I chose to stand down so that the team could make the best deal possible with him.\u00a0 The offer arrived the day after my resignation had been announced,&#8221; added Parr.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #888888;\"><em>\u00a9 RIF | GMM<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Former Williams chairman Adam Parr has confirmed it was Bernie Ecclestone who pushed him to leave formula one.
