{"id":17697,"date":"2013-01-30T06:51:47","date_gmt":"2013-01-30T11:51:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/?p=17697"},"modified":"2013-01-30T06:51:47","modified_gmt":"2013-01-30T11:51:47","slug":"scorpion-team-could-rise-from-hrts-ashes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/rif\/formula-1\/scorpion-team-could-rise-from-hrts-ashes\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;Scorpion&#8217; team could rise from HRT&#8217;s ashes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A new formula one team could rise from the ashes of the failed Spanish outfit HRT.<\/p>\n<p>Reports &#8211; including in the Spanish newspaper AS &#8211; claim a group of investors from Canada and the US want to enter this year&#8217;s world championship with an evolution of HRT&#8217;s 2012 car, featuring a Cosworth engine and Williams gearbox.<\/p>\n<p>The team is reportedly called Scorpion Racing, and the Press Association said it would be based at Silverstone and operate with equipment bought from HRT.<\/p>\n<p>But there could be an issue with getting up and running for 2013, given that the official entry deadline for this season&#8217;s championship closed last November.<\/p>\n<p>Bernie Ecclestone is quoted as saying: &#8220;I&#8217;ve spoken to them and told them to get in touch with the FIA and ask for an entry.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;They want to buy all the bits from HRT, then form a company and ask for an entry, but I personally don&#8217;t think it will happen.\u00a0 It&#8217;s all a bit too late.\u00a0 Maybe they could do it for next year.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The Press Association said the FIA did not want to respond in detail until it receives more &#8216;concrete&#8217; information from Scorpion.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #888888;\"><em>\u00a9 RIF | GMM<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A new formula one team could rise from the ashes of the failed Spanish outfit HRT.
