{"id":18116,"date":"2013-04-18T07:02:20","date_gmt":"2013-04-18T11:02:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/?p=18116"},"modified":"2013-04-18T07:02:20","modified_gmt":"2013-04-18T11:02:20","slug":"marko-denies-mateschitz-threatened-f1-exit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/rif\/formula-1\/marko-denies-mateschitz-threatened-f1-exit\/","title":{"rendered":"Marko denies Mateschitz threatened F1 exit"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Dr Helmut Marko has scoffed at reports Red Bull could quit formula one over the &#8216;Multi-21&#8217; team orders affair.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"ngg-singlepic ngg-left alignleft\" style=\"margin: 5px 10px;\" alt=\"Dr-Helmut-Marko\" src=\"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/rif\/gallery\/f1-2012-rif-images\/f1-12-people\/Dr-Helmut-Marko.jpg\" width=\"384\" height=\"256\" \/>According to Germany&#8217;s Auto Motor und Sport, owner Dietrich Mateschitz was furious when Sebastian Vettel ignored his bosses orders in Malaysia, triggering Mark Webber&#8217;s anger and a slew of negative publicity.<\/p>\n<p>Billionaire Mateschitz reportedly told the Milton-Keynes based team that a repeat of the team orders mess could result in him pulling the plug on F1 altogether.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Nonsense.\u00a0 There&#8217;s nothing to it,&#8221; Mateschitz&#8217;s right hand man Marko told Bild newspaper.<\/p>\n<p>Nonetheless, the affair dubbed &#8216;Multi-21&#8242; continues to cause headaches for Red Bull.<\/p>\n<p>A photo of Webber dining with Red Bull&#8217;s arch-enemy Ferrari driver Fernando Alonso in Dubai was posted on the drivers&#8217; Twitter feeds, triggering another wave of rumours.<\/p>\n<p>Marko said: &#8220;It&#8217;s nice that there are at least two friends in formula one.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Pedro de la Rosa, a Ferrari test driver, suggested the entire saga is a storm in a teacup, playing down suggestions Webber could quit Red Bull sooner rather than later.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;No,&#8221; the Spaniard told Marca sports newspaper.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;How are you going to leave a team that is giving you a great car like that one?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>De la Rosa rubbished the conspiracy theory about Red Bull sabotaging Webber&#8217;s RB9 in China last weekend.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;There is no sabotage,&#8221; he insisted.\u00a0 &#8220;His teammate didn&#8217;t follow a team order.\u00a0 He (Vettel) apologised.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The fuel (situation in qualifying in China) was a mistake, and it&#8217;s happened elsewhere before.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I would like to be in his (Webber)&#8217;s skin.\u00a0 I don&#8217;t see the controversy.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It would be a problem if he wasn&#8217;t in a position to win races,&#8221; he added.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #888888;\"><em>\u00a9 RIF | GMM<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dr Helmut Marko has scoffed at reports Red Bull could quit formula one over the &#8216;Multi-21&#8217; team orders affair.
