{"id":18154,"date":"2013-04-25T07:19:00","date_gmt":"2013-04-25T11:19:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/?p=18154"},"modified":"2013-04-25T07:19:00","modified_gmt":"2013-04-25T11:19:00","slug":"long-beach-bosses-deny-f1-rumours","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/rif\/formula-1\/long-beach-bosses-deny-f1-rumours\/","title":{"rendered":"Long Beach bosses deny F1 rumours"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The bosses of the iconic US street race have denied reports formula one is interested in adding Long Beach to its annual calendar.<\/p>\n<p>Reports this month said that with Indycar&#8217;s contract expiring, Bernie Ecclestone and F1 sponsor agency chief Zak Brown have expressed interest in snapping up the California event.<\/p>\n<p>These days, former McLaren driver Michael Andretti promotes some Indycar races and he observed: &#8220;Why would they sell it?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>He was referring to Long Beach race owners Kevin Kalkhoven and Gerald Forsythe.<\/p>\n<p>The president and CEO of the race, Jim Michaelian, said: &#8220;This is a story that keeps bouncing around every year or so, despite the fact that the race isn&#8217;t for sale and there&#8217;s been no contact between anyone and Kevin about a sale.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Nothing is happening,&#8221; he told the Long Beach Press-Telegram.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;To keep speculating, playing this &#8216;what if&#8217; game, just encourages more rumours that don&#8217;t amount to anything,&#8221; he added.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier, Kalkhoven had said he would only consider selling Long Beach if &#8220;stupid money&#8221; was being proposed.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Gerry and I are not interested in selling Long Beach,&#8221; he added.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #888888;\"><em>\u00a9 RIF | GMM<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The bosses of the iconic US street race have denied reports formula one is interested in adding Long Beach to its annual calendar.
