{"id":18196,"date":"2013-05-02T07:02:41","date_gmt":"2013-05-02T11:02:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/?p=18196"},"modified":"2013-05-02T07:02:41","modified_gmt":"2013-05-02T11:02:41","slug":"marko-says-lauda-triggered-red-bull-quit-rumour","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/rif\/formula-1\/marko-says-lauda-triggered-red-bull-quit-rumour\/","title":{"rendered":"Marko says Lauda triggered Red Bull quit rumour"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Dr Helmut Marko has pointed the finger at Niki Lauda, following recent rumours Red Bull was considering pulling out of formula one.<\/p>\n<p>In the heat of the &#8216;Multi-21&#8217; team orders controversy, media reports in Germany claimed a furious Red Bull Racing and Toro Rosso team owner Dietrich Mateschitz had threatened to pull the plug on F1.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Nonsense.\u00a0 There&#8217;s nothing to it,&#8221; Mateschitz&#8217;s right hand man Marko said initially last month.<\/p>\n<p>But it seems there was more to the story.<\/p>\n<p>Marko has now told Germany&#8217;s Auto Bild that the quit rumour was triggered by triple world champion and Mercedes chairman Lauda, following a telephone call between the famous Austrian and billionaire Mateschitz.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;They were discussing both the team order issue and the (Pirelli) tyres, because Dietrich has been so upset about the rapidly deteriorating tyres,&#8221; said Marko.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Niki has somehow taken it the wrong way and then told the press,&#8221; he added.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #888888;\"><em>\u00a9 RIF | GMM<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dr Helmut Marko has pointed the finger at Niki Lauda, following recent rumours Red Bull was considering pulling out of formula one.
