{"id":18333,"date":"2013-05-23T07:12:01","date_gmt":"2013-05-23T11:12:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/?p=18333"},"modified":"2013-05-23T07:12:01","modified_gmt":"2013-05-23T11:12:01","slug":"mclaren-wants-to-be-only-honda-powered-team-in-2015","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/rif\/formula-1\/mclaren-wants-to-be-only-honda-powered-team-in-2015\/","title":{"rendered":"McLaren wants to be only Honda-powered team in 2015"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>McLaren looks set to be the only Honda-powered team in 2015.<\/p>\n<p>The great British team is already signed up to be Japanese carmaker&#8217;s &#8216;works&#8217; partner, but it had been reported that Lotus, Sauber and Williams had enquired about becoming customers of Honda&#8217;s turbo V6 engine.<\/p>\n<p>Indeed, it was believed that &#8211; under FIA rules &#8211; Honda was actually obliged to make available its engines to one or more customer teams when it returns to F1.<\/p>\n<p>But German-language reports, in Speed Week and by the SID news agency, quote Martin Whitmarsh as suggesting Honda is in fact not obliged to have customers.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;To my knowledge there is nothing in the regulations forcing an engine supplier to supply several teams,&#8221; he reportedly told The Racer&#8217;s Edge.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;So we look forward to an exclusive collaboration with Honda,&#8221; the McLaren boss added.<\/p>\n<p>Whitmarsh also seemed to play down reports linking Japanese driver Kamui Kobayashi with a possible return to F1 in McLaren&#8217;s new Honda era.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;If we did that (signed a Japanese driver), it would be a driver that we have helped to develop,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #888888;\"><em>\u00a9 RIF | GMM<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>McLaren looks set to be the only Honda-powered team in 2015.
