{"id":18789,"date":"2013-07-16T07:02:42","date_gmt":"2013-07-16T11:02:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/?p=18789"},"modified":"2013-07-16T07:02:42","modified_gmt":"2013-07-16T11:02:42","slug":"honda-denies-plans-for-2014-honda-test-car","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/rif\/formula-1\/honda-denies-plans-for-2014-honda-test-car\/","title":{"rendered":"Honda denies plans for 2014 Honda test car"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Honda has categorically denied reports it will build a test car in order to get track running of McLaren&#8217;s 2015 engine off to an early start.<\/p>\n<p>We reported last month that work on a Honda test car could start this year, long before the Japanese marque is bound by F1&#8217;s regulations governing its 2015 foray.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This (report) is untrue,&#8221; McLaren spokesman told us at the time.<\/p>\n<p>Honda has now issued the same denial.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We will not build such a vehicle,&#8221; Speed Week correspondent Rob La Salle quoted Honda chief Yasuhisa Arai as saying.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The first track testing will happen during the winter testing ahead of the 2015 season,&#8221; he announced.<\/p>\n<p>Arai said Honda&#8217;s test benches in Tochigi, Japan, are so good that building a bespoke test car is not necessary.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;ve heard the rumours,&#8221; he admitted, &#8220;but we have no such plans.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #888888;\"><em>\u00a9 RIF | GMM<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Honda has categorically denied reports it will build a test car in order to get track running of McLaren&#8217;s 2015 engine off to an early start.
