{"id":18811,"date":"2013-07-17T19:39:53","date_gmt":"2013-07-17T23:39:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/?p=18811"},"modified":"2013-07-17T19:39:53","modified_gmt":"2013-07-17T23:39:53","slug":"ex-f1-boss-kolles-tried-to-blackmail-wolff-report","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/rif\/formula-1\/ex-f1-boss-kolles-tried-to-blackmail-wolff-report\/","title":{"rendered":"Ex-F1 boss Kolles tried to blackmail Wolff &#8211; report"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Former HRT boss Colin Kolles tried to blackmail Mercedes chief Toto Wolff earlier this year, it has emerged.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"ngg-singlepic ngg-left alignleft\" style=\"margin: 5px 10px; border: 1px solid black;\" alt=\"Colin-Kolles-1\" src=\"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/rif\/gallery\/f1-2013-rif-images\/f1-2013-persons\/Colin-Kolles-1.jpg\" width=\"384\" height=\"256\" \/>We reported earlier that a conversation between Austrian Wolff and a then-unnamed former F1 team boss was &#8220;secretly recorded&#8221; and then threatened to be used against him.<\/p>\n<p>Bild newspaper had said Wolff spoke negatively about his own boss, Ross Brawn, colleague Niki Lauda, and also Daimler chairman Dieter Zetsche, whilst divulging details of his clashing co-ownership of the Williams team.<\/p>\n<p>A subsequent report by the magazine Sport Bild said Wolff had been taped in mid February this year by former HRT and Force India boss Kolles, in Barcelona.<\/p>\n<p>That report said Kolles then threatened to release the details of their explosive conversation unless he paid a sum of money.<\/p>\n<p>Reportedly, Wolff and Kolles have settled their dispute with the intervention of F1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone, while Mercedes has obtained a court order preventing the publication of the details of the conversation.<\/p>\n<p>Sport1 said Kolles would not comment, and Mercedes also declined to comment.<\/p>\n<p>The German news agency SID said Wolff could not be reached at time of publication.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #888888;\"><em>\u00a9 RIF | GMM<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Former HRT boss Colin Kolles tried to blackmail Mercedes chief Toto Wolff earlier this year, it has emerged.
