{"id":18900,"date":"2013-07-30T07:13:02","date_gmt":"2013-07-30T11:13:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/?p=18900"},"modified":"2013-07-30T07:13:02","modified_gmt":"2013-07-30T11:13:02","slug":"korea-to-join-india-in-f1-exile-reports","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/rif\/formula-1\/korea-to-join-india-in-f1-exile-reports\/","title":{"rendered":"Korea to join India in F1 exile &#8211; reports"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Korean grand prix looks set to join India in F1 exile, as Bernie Ecclestone trims the 2014 calendar to a maximum of 20 races.<\/p>\n<p>It has been reported that Austria, Russia and New Jersey are to be added to the current 19-race schedule.<\/p>\n<p>But the latter of those events, slated to be the second American race on the 2014 calendar amid the Manhattan skyline, now appears unlikely.<\/p>\n<p>Mercedes chairman Niki Lauda said a few days ago that New Jersey &#8220;didn&#8217;t happen this year because of a lack of money&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;As far as I know,&#8221; the F1 legend told Austrian broadcaster ORF, &#8220;it&#8217;s already gone from the calendar&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>And amid reports Ecclestone will drop the Indian grand prix over a tax issue, Germany&#8217;s Auto Motor und Sport claims the other race unlikely to survive beyond 2013 is Korea.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Apparently,&#8221; said correspondent Tobias Gruner, &#8220;the organisers have run out of money.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Ecclestone is well known for having little patience if his fees are not paid.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The AFP news agency also reports that Korea is in doubt, saying the organiser &#8220;has lost money since it first hosted formula one in 2010, and local authorities are unwilling to cover losses&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #888888;\"><em>\u00a9 RIF | GMM<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Korean grand prix looks set to join India in F1 exile, as Bernie Ecclestone trims the 2014 calendar to a maximum of 20 races.
