{"id":19435,"date":"2013-10-01T07:02:03","date_gmt":"2013-10-01T11:02:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/?p=19435"},"modified":"2013-10-01T07:02:03","modified_gmt":"2013-10-01T11:02:03","slug":"petrov-set-for-f1-return-as-powerful-pay-driver","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/rif\/formula-1\/petrov-set-for-f1-return-as-powerful-pay-driver\/","title":{"rendered":"Petrov set for F1 return as powerful pay-driver"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Vitaly Petrov could be set to burst back into F1 as a powerful pay-driver, it has emerged.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"ngg-singlepic ngg-left alignright\" style=\"margin: 5px 10px;\" alt=\"Vitaly-Petrov-1\" src=\"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/rif\/gallery\/f1-2012-rif-images\/f1-12-drivers\/Vitaly-Petrov-1.jpg\" width=\"384\" height=\"257\" \/>Once racing for Renault and Caterham, the Russian&#8217;s former manager, Oksana Kosachenko, claimed last week that Petrov has managed to come up with an impressive EUR 25 million in sponsorship to offer a 2014 team.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to Russia&#8217;s Championat, 29-year-old Petrov did not deny Kosachenko&#8217;s claim.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I think Oksana always knows more about everyone, in all the projects,&#8221; he said sarcastically.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;There is nothing to comment on.\u00a0 I don&#8217;t know what to say,&#8221; added Petrov.<\/p>\n<p>He hinted, however, that he might now be well placed to secure a seat in 2014, after a season on the sidelines.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We know that some teams have money worries,&#8221; said Petrov, &#8220;so there is the chance for drivers who can help in this area.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>With Sauber already preparing to field a Russian driver next year in the form of Sergey Sirotkin, the big rumour is that Petrov could line up for the Russian supercar maker-owned team, Marussia.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;At the moment there is nothing new to say,&#8221; Petrov answered, &#8220;but it is not a disadvantage for me if some teams wait a little while before deciding their drivers.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #888888;\"><em>\u00a9 RIF | GMM<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Vitaly Petrov could be set to burst back into F1 as a powerful pay-driver, it has emerged.
