{"id":20536,"date":"2013-12-14T07:57:32","date_gmt":"2013-12-14T12:57:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/?p=20536"},"modified":"2013-12-14T07:57:32","modified_gmt":"2013-12-14T12:57:32","slug":"marko-backs-sutils-sauber-switch","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/rif\/formula-1\/marko-backs-sutils-sauber-switch\/","title":{"rendered":"Marko backs Sutil&#8217;s Sauber switch"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Red Bull&#8217;s Dr Helmut Marko thinks Sauber has made a good choice by signing Adrian Sutil for 2014.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"ngg-singlepic ngg-left alignright\" style=\"margin: 5px 10px;\" alt=\"Dr-Helmut-Marko\" src=\"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/rif\/gallery\/f1-2013-rif-images\/f1-2013-persons\/Dr-Helmut-Marko.jpg\" width=\"384\" height=\"256\" \/>The Swiss team Sauber, a constant midfield presence on the F1 grid since 1993, struggled through last season with financial problems.<\/p>\n<p>Nico Hulkenberg, who often shone in the increasingly-competitive 2013 Sauber, has jumped ship to Force India for 2014.<\/p>\n<p>So Force India refugee Sutil, who has spent his entire grand prix career with the Silverstone based team, now replaces German Hulkenberg at Sauber.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Sutil is a very good and experienced driver,&#8221; world champion team Red Bull&#8217;s Marko told the German publication Sport Bild.<\/p>\n<p>Marko acknowledged Sauber&#8217;s financial struggle in 2013, but insisted the Hinwil based team remains &#8220;reputable and highly professional&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Former F1 driver Gerhard Berger agrees: &#8220;It would be a huge loss to the sport if Sauber would ever disappear from formula one.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I fervently hope they get back to where they should be,&#8221; he added.<\/p>\n<p>Sauber said it will announce Sutil&#8217;s teammate &#8220;at a later date&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #888888;\"><em>\u00a9 RIF | GMM<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Red Bull&#8217;s Dr Helmut Marko thinks Sauber has made a good choice by signing Adrian Sutil for 2014.
