{"id":21232,"date":"2014-03-12T07:06:51","date_gmt":"2014-03-12T11:06:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/?p=21232"},"modified":"2014-03-12T07:06:51","modified_gmt":"2014-03-12T11:06:51","slug":"new-nurburgring-owner-to-keep-affordable-f1","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/rif\/formula-1\/new-nurburgring-owner-to-keep-affordable-f1\/","title":{"rendered":"New Nurburgring owner to keep &#8216;affordable&#8217; F1"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>F1&#8217;s Nurburgring future now appears brighter, after the embattled German grand prix venue was bought for a reported EUR 100 million.<\/p>\n<p>A week ago, it was reported that Miami-based private equity company HIG Capital was the high bidder for the fabled venue, having pledged EUR 60-70 million.<\/p>\n<p>But it now emerges in the pages of Der Spiegel that the buyer is in fact a Dusseldorf based automotive group called Capricorn.<\/p>\n<p>Boss Robertino Wild confirmed the news at a press conference, saying Capricorn is committed to keeping formula one at the Nurburgring &#8220;as long as it remains affordable&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>SID news agency said Capricorn is paying EUR 77 million euros, as well as immediately pumping in an additional 25 million to invest in the circuit.<\/p>\n<p>Wild said the Nurburgring will &#8220;basically go as it was before&#8221;, with the exception of the disastrous amusement park and roller coaster, to be shut down.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #888888;\"><em>\u00a9 RIF | GMM<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>F1&#8217;s Nurburgring future now appears brighter, after the embattled German grand prix venue was bought for a reported EUR 100 million.
