{"id":21405,"date":"2014-03-29T09:47:15","date_gmt":"2014-03-29T13:47:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/?p=21405"},"modified":"2014-08-27T20:12:12","modified_gmt":"2014-08-28T00:12:12","slug":"formula-e-could-snap-up-f1s-new-york-race","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/rif\/formula-1\/formula-e-could-snap-up-f1s-new-york-race\/","title":{"rendered":"Formula E could snap up F1&#8217;s New York race"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The new FIA-sanctioned electric single seater series Formula E could sweep in and snap up a New York street race.<\/p>\n<p>Series organiser Alejandro Agag told Forbes that talks with city authorities are underway.<\/p>\n<p>F1 has been planning a street race amid the Manhattan skyline, but the event has been repeatedly delayed, with the main problem reportedly being money.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are working with New York,&#8221; Formula E&#8217;s Agag told F1 business journalist Christian Sylt, &#8220;but we are kind of waiting to see what happens with formula one.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Formula E&#8217;s advantage, according to Sylt, is that while F1 charges promoters a fee of up to $27 million per race, the new electric series is offering its events to cities for free.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Mr Agag does not ask for a hosting fee,&#8221; Sylt said, &#8220;but in return requires cities to provide prime positions for the race as well as assistance with the preparations and introductions to local sponsors.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Agag admitted he is trying to woo the New Jersey F1 race promoter Leo Hindery.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;In New York the hospitality revenues would be huge so Hindery should put the money forward and he would recover it,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #888888;\"><em>\u00a9 RIF | GMM<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The new FIA-sanctioned electric single seater series Formula E could sweep in and snap up a New York street race.
