{"id":21577,"date":"2014-04-11T07:07:31","date_gmt":"2014-04-11T11:07:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/?p=21577"},"modified":"2014-04-11T07:07:31","modified_gmt":"2014-04-11T11:07:31","slug":"saubers-female-driver-to-make-f1-test-debut","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/rif\/formula-1\/saubers-female-driver-to-make-f1-test-debut\/","title":{"rendered":"Sauber&#8217;s female driver to make F1 test debut"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Simona de Silvestro will shortly make her formula one test debut.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"ngg-singlepic ngg-left alignleft\" style=\"margin: 5px 10px;\" alt=\"Simona-de-Silvestro-1\" src=\"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/rif\/gallery\/f1-2014-rif-images\/f1-2014-drivers\/Simona-de-Silvestro-1.jpg\" width=\"384\" height=\"256\" \/>The 25-year-old female Swiss driver, best known for her Indycar exploits, recently became &#8220;affiliated&#8221; with the Ferrari-powered Sauber team.<\/p>\n<p>It emerged early this week that she underwent a seat fitting at Sauber&#8217;s Hinwil factory, and Speed Week now reports that she will make her test debut at the end of this month.<\/p>\n<p>The report said de Silvestro will drive a few-year-old Ferrari at the Italian marque&#8217;s Fiorano test track.<\/p>\n<p>Another Sauber test driver, Russian teen Sergey Sirotkin, tested for the Swiss team in Bahrain earlier this week.<\/p>\n<p>It is believed Sauber prioritised the test for Sirotkin so that he can obtain his mandatory super license and take part in Friday practice at Sochi later this year.<\/p>\n<p>Linked with new Russian team backers, the 18-year-old managed the necessary 300 kilometres at a competitive pace.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;My shoes were too small,&#8221; said Sirotkin, &#8220;and it was pretty painful when I was braking.\u00a0 When we changed the shoes, it was still not the best and difficult to drive.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It was not easy,&#8221; he added, &#8220;but I am glad we completed the 300kms.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #888888;\"><em>\u00a9 RIF | GMM<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Simona de Silvestro will shortly make her formula one test debut.
