{"id":21717,"date":"2014-04-23T07:05:35","date_gmt":"2014-04-23T11:05:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/?p=21717"},"modified":"2014-04-23T07:05:35","modified_gmt":"2014-04-23T11:05:35","slug":"no-name-change-after-ownership-split-marussia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/rif\/formula-1\/no-name-change-after-ownership-split-marussia\/","title":{"rendered":"No name change after ownership split &#8211; Marussia"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Marussia is not planning to change its name, even though the F1 team is no longer owned by the Russian supercar maker.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"ngg-singlepic ngg-right alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/rif\/gallery\/f1-2014-rif-images\/f1-2014-persons\/Graeme-Lowdon-2.jpg\" alt=\"Graeme-Lowdon-2\" width=\"415\" height=\"276\" \/>It emerged two weeks ago that the British-based team has split with Murussia Motors, who according to Russian reports is shedding staff and no longer making supercars.<\/p>\n<p>A team spokeswoman had explained that the team is now owned by another company with a Marussia-themed name, Marussia Communications Limited.<\/p>\n<p>But Marussia F1 Team&#8217;s sporting boss Graeme Lowdon insists the ownership split will have little impact.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Contrary to some reports we&#8217;ve never been owned by the car company,&#8221; he told Press Association.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;ve a common shareholder in Andrey Cheglakov, a shareholder in the car company and a major shareholder in the F1 team.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Although there is obviously a marketing link, beyond that there is no direct impact on us at all,&#8221; Lowdon said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Financially we&#8217;re fine, or as much as a formula one team can be!&#8221; he added.<\/p>\n<p>Lowdon also said Marussia is not planning to change its name.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The whole Marussia concept goes beyond a car business, and we&#8217;ve not had any approach from Andrey to suggest otherwise at present,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;So it&#8217;s business as usual.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a9 RIF | GMM<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Marussia is not planning to change its name, even though the F1 team is no longer owned by the Russian supercar maker.
