{"id":21852,"date":"2014-05-09T07:28:53","date_gmt":"2014-05-09T11:28:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/?p=21852"},"modified":"2014-05-09T07:28:53","modified_gmt":"2014-05-09T11:28:53","slug":"alonso-jokes-raikkonen-struggle-no-surprise","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/rif\/formula-1\/alonso-jokes-raikkonen-struggle-no-surprise\/","title":{"rendered":"Alonso jokes Raikkonen struggle &#8216;no surprise&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Fernando Alonso could not resist a mischievous joke on Thursday when asked about teammate Kimi Raikkonen&#8217;s struggles so far in 2014.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"ngg-singlepic ngg-left alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/rif\/gallery\/f1-2014-rif-images\/f1-2014-drivers\/Fernando-Alonso-6.jpg\" alt=\"Fernando-Alonso-6\" width=\"490\" height=\"326\" \/>Finn Raikkonen has struggled notably at Ferrari since returning to his 2007 title-winning team, but for the moment the high-pressure Maranello marque is backing him.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;He has class written all over him,&#8221; said technical director James Allison, &#8220;and in a very short space of time I&#8217;m sure we will also see the results of that on the track.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>When asked about the gap between himself and Raikkonen so far this season, however, Alonso undoubtedly recalled the pre-season banter that suggested his &#8216;number 1&#8217; crown at Ferrari may finally be in doubt.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Usually I beat my teammates,&#8221; the Spaniard joked, according to Finland&#8217;s MTV3.\u00a0 &#8220;So it&#8217;s not a big surprise.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>More seriously, Alonso said Ferrari is working hard to get &#8220;both Ferraris&#8221; fully up to speed.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are not in a position at the moment that we expect,&#8221; he said ahead of his home grand prix.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The start of Kimi was not the best in terms of points but I think hopefully soon they will be close to the podium or to the victories and we &#8211; both Ferraris &#8211; can score many points for the team.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a9 RIF | GMM<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Fernando Alonso could not resist a mischievous joke on Thursday when asked about teammate Kimi Raikkonen&#8217;s struggles so far in 2014.
