{"id":31598,"date":"2015-11-18T18:10:17","date_gmt":"2015-11-18T23:10:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/?p=31598"},"modified":"2015-11-18T18:10:17","modified_gmt":"2015-11-18T23:10:17","slug":"massa-defends-williams-appeal-decision","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/rif\/formula-1\/massa-defends-williams-appeal-decision\/","title":{"rendered":"Massa defends Williams&#8217; appeal decision"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Felipe Massa has defended Williams&#8217; decision to appeal his disqualification from the Brazilian grand prix.<\/p>\n<p>The FIA said Massa was excluded from the results because a tyre on his car on the grid was found to be a massive 27 degrees above Pirelli&#8217;s heat limit.<\/p>\n<p>F1 teams rarely challenge stewards&#8217; rulings, but the Brazilian driver said it is justified in this case.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Williams will not be quiet, because what happened was very strange,&#8221; he told Globo Esporte.<\/p>\n<p>Williams&#8217; chief engineer Rob Smedley has said three separate sensors operating independently showed that Massa&#8217;s tyre was in fact well beneath the 110 degree limit.<\/p>\n<p>Massa continued: &#8220;If we put a tyre to a temperature of 137 degrees it catches fire.\u00a0 There&#8217;s no reason to do so.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The team is trying to understand what happened, because at the moment nobody does.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Even with Massa&#8217;s disqualification, Williams secured third place in the constructors&#8217; world championship last weekend in Brazil.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a9 RIF | GMM<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Felipe Massa has defended Williams&#8217; decision to appeal his disqualification from the Brazilian grand prix.
