{"id":32804,"date":"2016-02-01T20:21:02","date_gmt":"2016-02-02T01:21:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/?p=32804"},"modified":"2016-02-01T20:21:02","modified_gmt":"2016-02-02T01:21:02","slug":"haas-to-share-reserve-driver-with-ferrari","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/rif\/formula-1\/haas-to-share-reserve-driver-with-ferrari\/","title":{"rendered":"Haas to share reserve driver with Ferrari"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Haas, the new American F1 team, has no plans to appoint a full-time reserve driver.<\/p>\n<p>With a Frenchman (Romain Grosjean) and Mexican (Esteban Gutierrez) set to race for the Ferrari-linked team, it has been rumoured Haas might want a US-born driver to at least be appointed the third, reserve or test driver.<\/p>\n<p>But team founder Gene Haas told Sportsbusiness Daily Global: &#8220;We don&#8217;t have a reserve driver at the moment.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;If we can find a common reserve driver with Ferrari or someone that would probably be the best way to do that,&#8221; he revealed.<\/p>\n<p>Haas said the need for permanent reserve drivers has diminished in recent years due to the advances in safety and reduction in the prevalence of injuries.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;With the safety there is today you generally-speaking need a reserve driver just for sickness or some other emergency,&#8221; he explained.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The need for a reserve driver probably isn&#8217;t as important as you think.\u00a0 We don&#8217;t typically have reserve drivers in Nascar either.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a9 RIF | GMM<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Haas, the new American F1 team, has no plans to appoint a full-time reserve driver.
