{"id":3537,"date":"2010-03-20T20:53:45","date_gmt":"2010-03-21T00:53:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/?p=3537"},"modified":"2010-03-20T20:53:45","modified_gmt":"2010-03-21T00:53:45","slug":"risi-maintaining-gt2-lead-at-incident-packed-sebring","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/rif\/alms\/risi-maintaining-gt2-lead-at-incident-packed-sebring\/","title":{"rendered":"RISI MAINTAINING GT2 LEAD AT INCIDENT PACKED SEBRING"},"content":{"rendered":"<h5><span style=\"color: #000080;\">&#8220;Porsche beat me to the Championship in Europe last year by one point&#8230;I want to win here!!\u201d &#8211; Bruni<\/span><\/h5>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Defending Sebring GT2 race winners, Risi Competizione, still has both Ferrari F430 GTC cars running at two thirds distance \u2013 with the #62 car of Bruni, Kaffer and Melo maintaining the class lead thanks to excellent pace and great team strategy \u2013 and the #61 car firmly within the top ten.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>A strong challenge from GT competitors Corvette Racing went away after incidents befell them, and two of the leading Porsches were also subject to an unusual accident involving a detached wheel.<\/p>\n<p>The on track battle with the two BMWs remains tight, although they are currently one lap down on the leading Risi Ferrari.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Despite a brush with an unsighted Tracy Krohn, \u2018Gimmi\u2019 Bruni had a steady and extremely consistent stint:\u00a0 \u201cThe car felt really good although I had a few traffic problems.\u00a0 The LMPC and GTC cars are faster than us on the straights but slower in the corners and one or two took some time to let us through.\u00a0 When we lost the lead during the pit stops under the second lot of yellow flags, and I saw it was to Porsche, it made me determined to get it back quickly.\u00a0 Porsche beat me to the Championship in Europe last year by one point&#8230;I want to win here!!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Nic J\u00f6nsson said of his stint in the #61 Ferrari:\u00a0 \u201cWe\u2019ve been having an intermittent electrical issue for some reason, similar to what we had in practice earlier this week. We thought we found a fix but apparently not. Every time it happens it goes into some sort of default mode and you lose a lot of power.\u00a0 We had a pretty decent top 4-5 pace there when the thing is working, then it goes into default and drops off 3-4 seconds. It\u2019s very frustrating fighting that the whole time. Otherwise, the car is well prepped and we\u2019ve been staying out of trouble so far. The car is in one piece and clean, so we just have to carry on and hopefully take this thing to the checkered and have a good result.
