{"id":4163,"date":"2010-04-05T06:49:01","date_gmt":"2010-04-05T10:49:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/?p=4163"},"modified":"2010-04-05T06:49:01","modified_gmt":"2010-04-05T10:49:01","slug":"renault-says-hamilton-weaving-should-have-been-punished","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/rif\/formula-1\/renault-says-hamilton-weaving-should-have-been-punished\/","title":{"rendered":"Renault says Hamilton weaving should have been punished"},"content":{"rendered":"<h5><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Renault team boss Eric Boullier believes Lewis Hamilton should have received an actual penalty for weaving during Sunday&#8217;s Malaysian grand prix.<\/span><\/h5>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>During the McLaren driver&#8217;s battle with Vitaly Petrov, Hamilton made four or five weaving manoeuvres on a single straight in order to prevent the Russian rookie from passing him.<\/p>\n<p>According to the rules, drivers may only make one defensive move, and then another before the brazing zone to return to his racing line.<\/p>\n<p>The incident, successfully enabling Hamilton to stay ahead of Renault&#8217;s Petrov, was reported by the race director to the stewards during the Sepang race.<\/p>\n<p>But the 2008 world champion was merely warned, and shown a black and white flag for bad conduct.<\/p>\n<p>Renault did not mention the weaving in its official press release, but Boullier is quoted as saying by Spain&#8217;s AS newspaper: &#8220;We have expressed our opinion (to the FIA).\u00a0 The warning was not enough.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The newspaper also quoted Ferrari test driver Marc Gene as describing Hamilton&#8217;s driving as &#8220;wrong&#8221;, while Virgin tester Andy Soucek said the Briton should have penalised &#8220;absolutely, without any doubt&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>And former Super Aguri driver Anthony Davidson told BBC radio: &#8220;I don&#8217;t know what Lewis was doing, weaving all over the track.\u00a0 I think he thought he was playing a Playstation rather than real life.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"color: #999999;\">\u00a9 RIF|GMM<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Renault team boss Eric Boullier believes Lewis Hamilton should have received an actual penalty for weaving during Sunday&#8217;s Malaysian grand prix.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"ngg_post_thumbnail":0},"categories":[3],"tags":[251,5262,5300,5261,5340,154,55,5336,415],"aioseo_notices":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/rif\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/4163"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/rif\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/rif\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/rif\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/rif\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=4163"}],"version-history":[{"count":1,"href":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/rif\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/4163\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":4164,"href":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/rif\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/4163\/revisions\/4164"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/rif\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=4163"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/rif\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=4163"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/rif\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=4163"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
